Ibiza town, formerly known Ebusus is the population center of the island of Ibiza. The city could be divided into two parts the upper, called Dalt Vila is the oldest part and the bottom where all the shops are located.
Dalt Vila is surrounded by a wall built in the XV and XVI, had built these walls the Emperor Charles V to protect against hackers and many that have infested these seas until about a century ago. John Calvi, Italian, was the architect of the creation of these walls that ended in 1585, during the reign of Philip II. Access to Dalt Vila can be performed by three entrances: door Soto, The New Gate and Main Gate with a magnificent coat of arms of Spain.
Dalt Vila is the highest part of the city of Ibiza is where stands the castle, it was home to many people, was an unassailable. Also at the top is the rebuilt Cathedral of Ibiza in the middle of the seventeenth century on a beautiful Gothic church built in 1235, which today is go to file and bell tower is all that remains of the elegant Gothic building. From the square of the cathedral is a spectacular view over the city of Ibiza, in this same square is the Archaeological Museum.
